We know it’s healthy to listen to our bodies. We hear our body saying it’s hungry and so we respond by eating. However, for some of us your body is really delivering the message, “I’m about to have a hot flash”, rather than “I need food”.
Could these mixed signals be one of the factors in weight gain that often accompanies living with hot flashes?
The Idea: Do we need to spread information to women experiencing hot flashes or approaching menopause? Would it be helpful for them to know that their body can be mixed up about hunger cues during this time in their life?
If this sounds like you: The next time you’re feeling really hungry and it’s not time for a main meal, maybe wait three to five minutes. Is your body asking for fuel, or is it time for a hot flash? May it’s asking for both.
